Well Dweller Puzzle Guide: Orb & Pillar Solutions and All 3 Elevator Parts
Solve every Autumn Forest orb and pillar puzzle, track down all three elevator parts, and use interactive maps to reach 100% in Well Dweller.
Well Dweller hides its hardest roadblocks behind puzzles that never explain themselves: a barricade that only opens when a stone orb strikes every pillar in one unbroken chain, and a broken elevator whose three missing parts the game refuses to mark on your map. That is why a focused Well Dweller puzzle guide matters — these are timing challenges, not riddles, and one mistimed swing resets the orb to its pedestal. This Well Dweller puzzle guide covers all four Autumn Forest orb and pillar puzzles, the Doll's Head trinket puzzle, every elevator part location, and the map tools that make 100% completion realistic.
Well Dweller is the dark fairy-tale Metroidvania from Kyle Thompson, the developer behind Sheepo, Islets, and Crypt Custodian. You explore as Glimmer, a feathered hero armed with a matchstick, hunting seven golden feathers to rescue your flock and defeat the evil Queen. GameSocialClub's September 21, 2026 article placed the launch on September 22, 2026 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles, with a day-one Xbox Game Pass release. Platform details live on the Well Dweller Steam store page.
How Well Dweller's Orb and Pillar Puzzles Work
Orb and pillar puzzles are the signature obstacle of the Autumn Forest, the orange region near the top of the world map. Every one follows the same rule set: a stone orb rests on a pedestal in a room of deactivated pillars, and a barricade seals the path forward. To break the barricade, you must drive the orb into every pillar in one continuous chain. Clip a wall, touch the floor, or let the orb leave the screen and the chain breaks — the orb returns to its pedestal and you start again.
That design turns each room into a rhythm problem rather than a logic problem. You redirect the orb by hitting it at the right angle at the right moment, and you frequently have to reposition mid-flight while the orb is still airborne. A Well Dweller puzzle guide can explain the route, but the timing is something you learn by retrying a few times.
One note on order: the puzzle numbers below follow the sequence one outlet's playthrough encountered them in, per GameSocialClub's Autumn Forest puzzle write-up published September 21, 2026. Your route may reach them in a different order, and the solutions work either way.
Autumn Forest Orb and Pillar Puzzle Solutions
This is the core of any Well Dweller puzzle guide: four main orb and pillar rooms in the Autumn Forest, plus one bonus puzzle that hides a trinket.
Puzzle 1 of 4 — The Introduction Bounce
The first room exists to teach the mechanic. Hit the orb left or right and let it bounce from pillar to pillar. That is the entire solution.
Puzzle 2 of 4 — Floor Pillar, Wall Ledge, Roof Pillar
Hit the orb to the right so it travels toward the pillar sitting on the floor. While the orb is in the air, jump over that pillar and land on the first ledge on the right. Then hit the orb left as it drops, sending it toward the pillar jutting out of the far-left wall.
Stay where you are and wait. When the orb bounces back off the far-left pillar and lines up beneath the pillar on the roof, hit it upward to complete the chain.
Puzzle 3 of 4 — The Mushroom Bounce
Stand to the right of the orb and hit it left, toward the diagonal-facing mushroom. As it bounces downward, bounce on the mushroom in the middle and hit the orb to the right. Aim for the upper-left edge of the large bouncy object on the right so the orb carries into the pillar.
If you catch that bouncy object dead center, the orb rebounds backward instead. In that case, run underneath it and knock it upward to finish.
Puzzle 4 of 4 — The Two-Mushroom Climb
Hit the orb to the left. It will bounce off the diagonal mushroom and head for the ceiling mushroom above the orb's starting pedestal. You have to climb to the platform above within that window and hit the orb left again so it rebounds off the higher diagonal mushroom on the left side of the room.
While that is happening, run to the left of the pillar — past the left ceiling mushroom — and hit the orb into the pillar to close the chain.
The Doll's Head Trinket Puzzle
One extra orb and pillar puzzle in the Autumn Forest gates a reward instead of a route: the Doll's Head trinket, which extends your attack range.
This room is pure speed. Hit the orb to the left and it bounces off a chain of mushrooms on its way to the top of the room. From there you must jump, climb, and sprint upward fast enough to smack the orb as it passes beneath the pillar. Miss the window and the orb resets on its pedestal, so practice the climb before you commit to the first hit.
Where to Find All Three Elevator Parts in Well Dweller
After you defeat the second boss and unlock fast travel, you will eventually find a broken elevator that needs three parts. The game gives you no markers, which is where a Well Dweller puzzle guide earns its keep. The parts sit in three different directions from the elevator, and two of them require the ability to fly up wind gusts — an ability you acquire in the room southeast of the elevator.
| Part | Direction from the elevator | Route and requirements |
|---|---|---|
| First | North, through the caverns above | Fly up the wind gusts, follow the narrow tunnel that leads toward the spirit nest, fly to the ledge on your right, duck under, then wall jump until you spot the part. |
| Second | Far southwest | Head west until you reach a downward tunnel, drop in, and keep moving west through spike parkour that tests your flight control. The part waits at the end of the trap tunnel. |
| Third | Northeast | Head east to the path that led to the flight ability, take the passage on the right, then climb to the passage above that heads east. Continue into a large room, parkour up into the north passage, cross the platforms while dodging the swinging metal ball, then climb and ride a wind gust to the very top. |
GameTyrant's elevator part walkthrough, published September 21, 2026, is the source for these routes, and it confirms the elevator only becomes relevant after the second boss and the fast-travel unlock. Get the wind-gust flight ability before you attempt the first and third parts, or you will simply be staring at ledges you cannot reach.
Map Tools That Make Puzzle Hunting Bearable
Well Dweller's map is the largest the developer has built, and every corner holds secrets, hidden items, and collectibles. According to the Gamer Guides interactive map for Well Dweller, captured on September 23, 2026, the site's single Kingdom map carried 820 markers, 127 arrows, and 17 labels across two layers — a Full Map and a Rooms Map. The page had been first published on September 22, 2026, and it displayed an update logged 16 hours before that capture.
Those markers cover exactly what puzzle hunters tend to miss:
- Points of interest: Tents, Challenge Rooms, and boss locations
- Collectibles: Spirits, Pages, Workshop Tokens, Trinkets, Trinket Slots, and Family Members
- Key items and upgrades: Golden Feathers and every traversal ability
- Secrets: hidden paths, breakable walls, and how to reach them
- Navigation aids: currency vessels and locked doors, including how to open them
Marker entries include screenshots, descriptions, and step-by-step walkthroughs for puzzles and challenges, and the site accepts contributor submissions. Some of those features sit behind a premium Map Pass, so check what is free before you subscribe.
The smartest approach is to solve rooms yourself first and save the map for collectible cleanup afterward. Used that way, a Well Dweller puzzle guide stops being a spoiler sheet and becomes the fastest route to 100% completion.
FAQ
Do the orb and pillar puzzles have to be solved in a set order? No. The Autumn Forest rooms can be discovered in any order, and the numbering in this Well Dweller puzzle guide simply mirrors one playthrough's route. Failing a chain is low-risk too, since the orb resets on its pedestal immediately, letting you retry without leaving the room.
Where is the first elevator part? It is north of the elevator, up in the caverns above. You need the wind-gust flight ability from the room southeast of the elevator, then you fly up, follow the narrow tunnel toward the spirit nest, and wall jump to the ledge on your right where the part sits.
What does the Doll's Head trinket do? It extends your attack range. You earn it by completing the speed-based orb and pillar puzzle in the Autumn Forest, where you must race to the top of the room and strike the orb as it passes beneath the pillar.
Is there a resource that covers puzzles beyond the Autumn Forest? Yes. Gamer Guides' interactive map, as captured on September 23, 2026, listed 820 markers across the Kingdom, including challenge rooms, hidden paths, and locked doors, with step-by-step walkthroughs for puzzles and challenges.
